About Mia Moroz, Swordfern Garden Design
A love of plants and a keen interest in art and architecture came together when I discovered the profession of landscape design. I received my masters of Landscape Architecture from UBC in 2000 and worked with a Victoria-based landscape design-build team as well as two local landscape architecture firms before fully launching Swordfern Garden Design. In business since 2003, my focus has been residential garden design, with projects ranging from small garden renovations to complete overhauls, from deck and pergola designs and selection of outdoor furnishings to the creation of a whole new vision for a property’s outdoor space. In addition to residential gardens, I have provided design services for larger scale multi-residential and commercial properties. From preparing landscape inventories and design strategy for existing strata developments to full landscape design for new multifamily developments, which then involves seeing the project through the permit process and construction. A typical design package includes a Layout and Materials Plan, Planting Plan, Elevation drawings basic Detail drawings as well as illustrative images. 3D drawings can also be included to help illustrate a more complicated project. For those still in the exploratory stage, I am happy to offer a 1 hour landscape consultation to discuss designs ideas and advise on general layout and planting options.
